Removing Coffee Stains From Carpet

If you don’t clean coffee stains from your carpet properly, it can leave it looking extremely filthy, with it being easily mistakable for pet waste.

When attempting to clean, dry the spot with a dry white towel and avoid spreading the stain even more. Make a mixture of vinegar and water on the stain. If that doesn’t work, then purchase a carpet stain removal and do a patch test, to make sure there’s no lasting damage. If you have polypropylene material carpet, then you may not need to purchase any special cleaner as the carpet responds well to water and bleach. Add a quarter cup of bleach and a quarter cup of water to a spray bottle. Spray and then rinse with warm water. Repeat until the stain disappears.

Removing Pet Stains From Carpet

Pet stains are a pain for home owners with carpet. It’s extremely frustrating when you find a surprise on your nice clean carpet, but we’re here to help.

Before doing anything else, clean up the initial mess without smearing it any further on the carpet. If the stain has dried on the carpet already, then use a carpet stain cleaning product. Then you have to neutralise the odour, which we have found vinegar extremely useful for.  If you don’t have any vinegar, white wine is also just as good. Mix a quarter cup of vinegar with a quarter cup of warm water and spritz on the stained area. Allow it to soak for several minutes and then use the blot technique till the stain and smell have gone.

Tips To Make Your Wallpaper Task Easier (Part 2)

A continuation of our tips for wallpapering from last week.

5) Make sure to use a sponge to wipe away excess adhesive off the wallpaper, baseboards and ceiling. Don’t forget to rinse your sponge also.

6) Before trimming the wallpaper with your knife (utility), make sure it’s sharp.

7) If you don’t have a sharp utility knife, you can use the back of your scissors blade to mark the angles on your wall covering. After you’ve done this, pull the paper away from the wall and trim along the line you marked with the back of your scissors. Make sure you’re good at this though, if you can’t cut a straight line, then avoid this technique and find a sharp utility knife!

8) To keep the the paper secure, use push pins. Place the pin on the lightest section of your paper, so it’s less visible after removing. Use a seam roller over the paper, after the push pin is taken out. This will smooth out the hole.

Tips To Make Your Wallpaper Task Easier (Part 1)

Funky wallpapers are the new in-thing at the moment. But getting the design on your wall can be a daunting task. Here are eight tips to help you on your way!

1) Make sure to order all the wallpaper you need at the same time. When it arrives double check the sizing and design.

2) If you’re wallpapering over dark paint/wallpaper, then paint a one-inch strip of white pain along the top of your wall. This will mean, it won’t be noticeable if your wallpaper fails to align exactly.

3) Make sure you have all your tools ready with you! Seam roller, brush/smoother, pushpins, tape-measure, scissors, wet sponge, knife. The list can go even longer.

4) Most houses don’t have perfect right angles. To avoid having wonky wallpaper, make a plumb line. This will help you measure the alignment of your wallpaper.
