Mosaic Designs for Bathrooms

Mosaics are a very old style of decoration, which is known to have been common in the Roman, Greek, and Mesopotamian empires. Mosaics are tile formed images and patterns; they use single coloured tiles in specific positions in order to assemble a complete image or pattern, not unlike a jigsaw puzzle.

Historically, mosaics have been used virtually everywhere, but nowadays you find them most typically in the same places where you find virtually every other tile, which is mostly in kitchens and bathrooms.

Bathrooms are one of the most ideal locations for a mosaic design. This is because mosaics have all of the same advantages of more typical tile designs, namely that they are durable, long-lasting (they’d have to be for 2000 year old ones to still exist), and easy to keep clean and maintain. On top of this, you get the unique style of one of the oldest artforms, which is sure to enrich your bathing experience and impress guests.

When it comes to purchasing a mosaic set for your own property, there are a few areas and features that you should be aware of:

  • Different providers of mosaic designs can provide better or lower quality tiles.
  • Pattern designs are usually cheaper than images.
  • It can be difficult purchasing suitable images, on account of them needing to be the correct scale. As a consequence, image designs often have to be bespoke designs, and therefore can require a premium cost.
  • Original and unique designs that haven’t been replicated throughout thousands of other homes can also be expensive, although for most people they are unnecessary.
