We have a number of ‘shabby chic’ items in our house, and by this we basically mean wooden or metal furniture which has been made to look rustic and country. What we learnt when we were adding this sort of furniture to our home was not to overdo it. When you have a shabby chic table, chairs, coffee table, bookshelf and clock your home can begin to look a little rough around the ages. We are always careful nowadays and we combine shabby chic furniture with modern furniture to get the best of both worlds.
