Hardwood can be relatively easy to maintain, but regular maintenance and cleaning is essential if you wish to keep the floor in pristine condition and looking good. Where to place your Christmas tree at home?

When you finally buy a Christmas tree, you probably think about decorating it but upon placing it in its support, you start searching for the best place in your house to position it. You may contemplate:

  • Should I place it near the window so that it can show all the beautiful lights all night?
  • Should I place it in the middle of the hallway where guests will be able to see?
  • Will it be safe in my kitchen with the other appliances?

There’s a lot to consider, but if you go for a small artificial tree, you can place it on your coffee table in a place that is convenient for you. But try to avoid places where it can be run over by people like behind a door or also near a window. Also remember to place it near a power outlet since you don’t want the whole house full of extension cords for the lights. Placing it near a ventilation grid might not be a good idea since if the tree is especially natural; it might cause it to dry thus making your house full of dried needles.

You children may be growing up in the blink of an eye, but your house remains the same size. While sharing a bedroom with your sibling can be fun and exciting when young, as children grow older they strive for independence and a bit of privacy too.

If moving home isn’t an option, there may be ways to help re-arrange your children’s bedroom to optimise their privacy. Stud walls can be easily installed into the home and will make two small rooms from one large room. An alternative is to add a curtain through the middle of the room, this provides the best of both worlds for your children. They can draw the curtain when the want their own space and some privacy, and the curtain can be opened if they want to spend time with their siblings.

There are also plastic partition walls that are less permanent that adding a stud wall into the home. They can be put up and take down easily and cause no permanent damage to the homes interior.

The mantel and surround to your fireplace is what sets it off. Without it, a fireplace is bare, uninteresting and can’t be considered the centrepiece of the room. When you enter a room with a fireplace and surround your eyes, tend to get drawn toward it, and surprisingly this can happens even if the fire is alight. It’s not often that you need to make changes to your mantel and fire surround.
