Creating That Perfect Entryway

The most common question we get: What colour should I paint my front door? Choosing 2 shades or tints from the same colour strip is best for the main exterior trim and siding colours. Then a third colour should be chosen for the front door.

You can go bold by adding a contrasting colour that is opposite on the colour wheel of your trim and siding colours, or you can go and choose a third lighter/darker shade that mimics the trim and siding. In order to make your entry stand out, it is best to choose a darker or bolder shade than the rest of your home.

Aside from colour, there are a lot of other features that can freshen up your entryway and speak to your homes style—lighting, plants, door knobs, door knocker, door kick plates, rugs, and porch seating all add to the overall appeal of your home’s entry.

3 colours we love this spring

There are so many brilliant colours in this world but colour trends in interior design are constantly evolving. This spring, we’ve already noticed that there are already a lot more green and blue shades in paint shops. Usually this would be seen as a rather ‘cool’ colour that isn’t best suited to spring, however, there’s a minty freshness to it, and that’s why it’s so popular right now. Deep reds are often associated with the winter months, but we’re seeing more of these two and a dark shade of red can actually add the warmth of an interior design, making it a nice addition for the new season of spring. Another popular colour right now is rose. It’s a nice subtle colour that adds warmth and femininity to a room, and it works beautifully on walls in bedrooms. We hope you like these options but what colours do you love for spring?

Where to place your Christmas tree at home?

When you finally buy a Christmas tree, you probably think about decorating it but upon placing it in its support, you start searching for the best place in your house to position it. You may contemplate:

  • Should I place it near the window so that it can show all the beautiful lights all night?
  • Should I place it in the middle of the hallway where guests will be able to see?
  • Will it be safe in my kitchen with the other appliances?

There’s a lot to consider, but if you go for a small artificial tree, you can place it on your coffee table in a place that is convenient for you. But try to avoid places where it can be run over by people like behind a door or also near a window. Also remember to place it near a power outlet since you don’t want the whole house full of extension cords for the lights. Placing it near a ventilation grid might not be a good idea since if the tree is especially natural; it might cause it to dry thus making your house full of dried needles.
